How to Prepare for a Mobile Detailer: The 10-Minute Checklist

Published 2026-09-29

The 10-Minute Checklist

Clear personal items from the cabin, trunk, and cargo area — the detailer cleans around what stays, and every minute spent moving your gym bag is a minute not spent on your seats. Child seats can stay installed; the detailer works around them, but mention them at booking so extraction time is planned.

Park where the detailer can work: a driveway, an assigned apartment spot, or an office lot space with room to open all doors and the trunk. The van needs to park within hose reach. If your complex has assigned parking or a gate code, send it the night before.

Leave the keys accessible. A lockbox, a neighbor, the front office, or a pre-arranged spot all work. If you will be home, a knock on the door works too — but you do not need to be there.

Pets, Kids, and Neighbors

Keep dogs inside during the appointment. An open car door plus a curious dog is how detailers lose an afternoon, and extraction equipment plus anxious pets is a bad combination. Mention heavy pet hair at booking — matted hair adds real extraction time and may need the Deep Clean add-on.

Tell the detailer about anything unusual before they start: a spill you already know about, a stain you tried to clean, a warning light, a door that sticks. Surprises discovered mid-job slow everything down; disclosed ones get planned around.

What You Do NOT Need to Provide

Water, power, outlets, or a hose. The Dallas Best van carries its own water supply and power, so the appointment works identically at a house, an apartment complex, an office, or a gated community. You provide access to the vehicle and a place to park it — that is the entire list.

You also do not need to pre-wash, vacuum, or “clean up a little first.” That is the job you booked. The one exception is personal clutter, which is about your privacy, not the detail — the detailer will not judge your trunk, but will clean faster without it.

Day Of: What to Expect

You get a text when the detailer is en route and another on arrival. They walk the vehicle with you (or solo, from the photos and notes on your booking) to confirm condition and the agreed scope — this is when any adjustment to the plan happens, before work starts, never as a surprise at the end.

Payment is handled online through your booking confirmation; nothing is collected in the driveway. When the work is done you get a completion text, and the standard is simple: if something is not right, say so and it gets fixed.

Common Questions

Do I need to be home for a mobile detailing appointment?

No. Leave the vehicle accessible and the keys available; the detailer texts on arrival and at completion, and payment is handled online.

Should I clean my car before the detailer arrives?

No pre-washing or vacuuming needed — that is the booked job. Just clear personal items from the cabin and trunk for privacy and speed.

What if I live in an apartment or gated community?

Apartments, offices, and gated lots all work the same as a house since the van carries its own water and power. Send the gate code or parking instructions the night before.
